Orthodox Icons for Baptism Gifts
An Orthodox icon can be a lasting baptism gift, but the most meaningful choice is usually connected to the person being baptized and the life of the Church.
The patron or namesake saint
An icon of the baptismal or patron saint is often an excellent choice. It gives the newly baptized person a visible reminder of a heavenly intercessor and example in the faith. Confirm the saint with the family, sponsor, or parish priest if you are unsure.
Christ, the Theotokos, or a Guardian Angel
An icon of Jesus Christ, the Theotokos, or a Guardian Angel is also appropriate. These are especially helpful when the patron saint is not yet known or when the gift will begin a child’s prayer corner.
Choose a practical size
A small icon works well for a nursery shelf or bedside prayer space. A medium or large icon may become the foundation of a permanent family prayer corner. Our mounted icons are printed reproductions mounted and finished by hand on solid wood in Texas.
Should the icon be blessed?
Our icons are not sold pre-blessed. The recipient or family may bring the icon to their parish priest and follow the custom of their parish.
