Orthodox Icon FAQ, Shipping & Pickup
About our icons
Are the icons hand-painted?
Our mounted icons are high-quality sacred image prints mounted and finished by hand on solid wood. Any hand-painted item is identified clearly in its product title and description. Greek handmade and gold-leaf icons are separate collections available through Etsy or by wholesale request.
Where are your mounted icons made?
Our mounted icons are printed, prepared, mounted, and finished by hand in our Texas workshop. We carefully package and ship website orders from Texas.
Are the icons blessed?
No. Our icons are not sold pre-blessed. Customers may bring an icon to their parish priest and follow the blessing custom of their parish.
What sizes do you offer?
Most mounted icons are available in Small (approximately 3.5 × 5 inches), Medium (approximately 5.5 × 7.5 inches), and Large (approximately 8 × 10 inches). Product pages show the sizes available for each design. Diptychs, triptychs, sets, hand-painted icons, and other special items have their own measurements.
Will every handmade item look exactly the same?
Slight variations in print placement, wood dimensions, grain, and hand finishing can occur. Product listings for assorted diptychs or other random-design items explain when the exact design may differ from the photographs.
Choosing an icon
Which icons should I buy first?
For a home prayer corner, many people begin with an icon of Christ and an icon of the Theotokos, then add a patron saint or Guardian Angel. Read our first icon guide and prayer corner guide.
What icon should I choose for a baptism?
The baptismal or patron saint is often the most personal choice. Christ, the Theotokos, or a Guardian Angel can also be appropriate. Confirm the patron saint with the family, sponsor, or parish priest when unsure. See our baptism gift guide.
How do I find my patron saint?
Begin with your baptismal or Christian name and ask your sponsor, family, parish records, or priest. Because several saints may share a name, parish guidance is better than guessing. Read our patron saint guide or use our Icon Finder.
Do you have wedding and nameday gift advice?
Yes. See our wedding icon gift guide and nameday gift guide.
Ordering and processing
How long does an order take?
Most St. Spyridon Icons products are made to order. Please allow approximately 13 business days (about 2½ weeks) for us to prepare your order before it ships or becomes ready for pickup. Shipping transit time is additional.
Can you guarantee a special delivery date?
Carrier dates are estimates, so we cannot guarantee arrival by a particular feast day or event. If you have a deadline, please contact us before ordering.
Can I buy icons for a church?
Yes. Churches, parishes, bookstores, and approved retailers may order directly or apply for wholesale. Approved wholesale discounts range from 25% to 50% depending on the order and account. We can also discuss custom designs and laser engraving of a church or organization logo on the back.
Do you accept custom requests?
Yes. Use our custom request page or contact page with the saint or subject, preferred size, quantity, and timing. We will reply before custom work begins.
Do you ship internationally?
International orders are currently available through our Etsy shop. Domestic shipping and church pickup are available on this website.
Church pickup
Where is local pickup?
Pickup is available only at Saint Paisios the Athonite Orthodox Christian Mission, 614 East Starr Avenue, Nacogdoches, TX 75961.
When should I go to the church?
Please wait until you receive a Ready for pickup email. The church is a pickup location, not a retail storefront.
Please do not call or email the church about an order. For order questions, use our contact page or reply to your St. Spyridon Icons order email.
