About this piece
Original Hand Painted Orthodox Icon of Extreme Humility (The King of Glory) – The Jennie Lyra Collection
Incorporate one of the most moving images of the Orthodox Church into your home with this original, hand-painted icon of Extreme Humility (The King of Glory). This masterpiece is written entirely by hand by Jennie Lyra, a blessed church iconographer and a dedicated member of our shop team at St. Spyridon Icons.
This poignant icon depicts the crucified Christ in the tomb, embraced by His grieving Mother, the Theotokos. Because this is a 100% original hand-painted piece rather than a serigraph or print, you can feel the spiritual weight and physical brushwork in every line. Measuring 8 x 12 inches on a sturdy 0.75-inch thick wooden panel, the board features a traditional structurally supported back frame to ensure it remains a protected family heirloom for generations.
To honor the solemnity and quiet power of this specific composition, this icon is written entirely with rich, deep paint pigments and does not include gold leaf, allowing the focus to remain completely on the sacred figures.
