About this piece
Original Hand Painted Orthodox Icon of the Holy Face (Mandylion) – The Jennie Lyra Collection
Bring the sacred depth of traditional Byzantine iconography into your prayer space with this striking, completely original hand-painted icon of the Holy Face (The Mandylion). This holy image is written entirely by hand by Jennie Lyra, a blessed church iconographer and an official member of our shop, St. Spyridon Icons.
Unlike flat digital prints or mass-produced items, this piece is a 100% unique work of sacred art. Painted with incredible focus, rich pigment choices, and deep spiritual reverence, it beautifully captures the serene and sovereign gaze of Christ. It is written on a substantial 0.75-inch thick wooden icon panel measuring 8 x 12 inches, featuring a traditional raised frame structure on the reverse side for stability and an authentic, historical feel.
This holy icon does not feature gold leaf, instead relying entirely on traditional painted highlights and deep, rich background tones to evoke a solemn, prayerful ambiance. It makes a profound centerpiece for a home altar, iconostasis, or a deeply meaningful spiritual gift.
